Mo Miles Attacked and Vandalized: Say It Ain't So!

Just when things started to improve with MoMiles (I went through a brief period this summer when the car started getting about 38-40 MPG), someone in my neighborhood vandalized my cherished "Mo Miles" license plate. I purchased this cool frame for the outside that read "Learn and Lead -- HybridBuzz.com" that was completely ripped to shreds. Can't figure it out. Either a reckless drunk college kid prank (lots of bars in my neighborhood), or the early seeds of an anti-environmental backlash here in Cincinnati. Very upsetting. Although they tried to literally break the license plate in half, it still survivies.

I know how you feel. Someone stole the emblem off my car probably a year ago and I haven't replaced it yet.

I hate when these things happen and if I manage to catch someone "red-handed", I'm going to kick his ass! I'm just sick of them. They scratched my entire bonet with a knife or something(the cuts are deep), and broke my left-side mirror several times(4 to be exact). Oh yeah, and they stole my chrome decorations(the ones around the sidewindows - it cost me a fortune to replace them, because it was a limited edition feature).

Sorry you got vandalized.
But look, the reason you bought the car was for economy? Ok good.
But is it economical?
Is it anywhere near as efficient as you were led to believe?
I also looked into hybrids but was surprised by what I found. For instance, a friend of mine has a Prius that she is very disappointed in because she paid over $20k for a car that can barely achieve 40 mpg. I have a 1995 Corolla that gets 33mpg.
I have concluded that for me, gas is out. I'm done.
After 100+ years of making engines they MUST be able to come up with a viable alternative. But they won't.
I have decided not to buy another new gas car. I'm keeping the Corolla and saving my money until I can find another option.
You love your car because it is a Civic. Excellent car. The hybrid feature is just not what is was cracked up to be.
Thanks for the blog.

Hi! In this article, you said that hybrids are really good. For example, the range is limited. Also, and nick said, bio-diesel may be more efficient. Please consider other cars. Still, I think your blog is good and I like the way you write! :-)

Sorry to hear about your vandalism especially if you suspect an eco-backlash which I have a hard time understanding.
I have recently purchased a 2007 civic hybrid and I'm having the same issues with the gas mileage. The mileage on the new car is lower than what I was getting on my 1996 civic. Though the new one is a bigger and heavier car it's extremely disappointing.
You mentioned that you had a period of better gas mileage. Any idea what caused it?

Mr Pedro recently helped us with a loan which we used to expand our business. The process was amazing! He was in touch with us frequently to check in and to update us on what was happening throughout our loan repayment. He was friendly and approachable and always able to clear up questions that we had. We had such a great experience working with Pedro!!
