Time To Revise Mileage Estimates?
Hear this about a not-so-hard-to-predict bill by Senator Maria Cantwell to overhaul how mileage estimates are developed. I recommended the same thing in a letter to my own elected official, Representative Rob Portman, who, while responding to my note in short order, largely ignored the core issue.
Here's another version of the link.

Hey there Pete,
I drive a 5-year old car that has around 70,000 miles on the meter with a stick-shift/manual Mitsubishi 1300cc (liters) engine that has no VTEC, no DOHC and no V6 – achieving 450 to 500 kilometers on 35 - 37 liters of consumed gas (Shell's V-Power) from a 50L tank.
If I'm not wrong, that's between 31 - 33 MPG of city driving for over a period of 5-years of the car's life; 500km divided by 1.6 divided by 9 or 10 gallons.
I wonder if manufacturers like Honda realize that using MPG as the key criteria for promoting a hybrid is not going to work on people with cars that sustain 33 MPG in city driving while consuming minimal petrol with 1.3L gas engines.

Has your mpg increased at all? My wife drives our hybrid civic in stop and go for 8 miles each way and while she got 34 in the winter b/c it was too cold for auto stop (we live in d.c.) our mpg has increased to the low 40s since spring has hit.
Hello there, Jesse here again from MA. The EPA is accurate. My father's 05 infinate ratio HCH is easily obtaining the 48mpg it is supposed to. Often get in the 50's. 12,500 miles on the car so far. Also my prius is at 161,000 and no problems yet. Also easily meets or beets epa.
